Good thing we stopped this guy . . .

Halvar Flake was just denied entry to the United States for reasons that aren’t quite clear. He was visiting for the express purpose of teaching a sold out course at BlackHat 2007 in Las Vegas, NV–something he’s done many times over the course of many years (ironically, providing instruction to agents of the very organization–actually organizations, now formed like Voltron and passed off as the Department of Homeland Security–that has denied him entry).

Whether this denial was the result of a procedural failing on Halvar’s part, part of a new policy requiring that we fear Germans, or something else entirely remains to be seen.

UPDATE1: Turns out that it was a procedural error of sorts. Turns out that a company must consist of more than one person. Or something like that.

UPDATE2: Wired’s Threat Level blog is covering this as well.
